George Myers

George Myers, age 73, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 18, 2022. He was born on March 22, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Donald and Isabelle (Edwards) Myers.

A graduate of Waite High School, class of 1967, he furthered his education at Owens Community College, graduating with an Associate's Degree in computer science. A man of faith, he was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, of 42 years, where he served as an usher, worked in the Awana program and enjoyed working as a greeter. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed golf, basketball, and football. He played basketball at Waite High School and was on the All City team. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with family, especially watching his grandchildren play sports; he made sure he never missed a game.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Kathy (Friend) Myers, whom he married on June 19, 1971; son, Keith (Marianne) Myers; daughter, Michelle (David) Miller; grandchildren, Zach, Andrew, Maddie, and Tyler; and a brother, Jim (Andrea) Myers.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Isabelle Myers.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4207 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am, with Pastor Duke Crawford officiating. George will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park.
