George F. Meade, age 59, was called to his forever home in Heaven on January 31, 2010 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center after a long courageous battle with cancer. On November 16, 1950 he was born to George and Rosemary (Gantz) Meade Sr. in Toledo, Ohio. On April 6, 1991 he married Sharon (Ervin) Meade in Sylvania, Ohio. George was a very loyal, honest and good hearted man, who had a wonderful sense of humor and a wonderful sense of righteousness. George enlisted in the United States Army in the 1970's where he served two tours in the Vietnam Conflict. He worked at Doehler Jarvis for 26 years until they closed in 1998. His last employer was St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center where he had worked until he became disabled.
Survivors include his mother, Rosemary; his loving wife of 19 years, Sharon Meade; sister, Ruth (David) Underwood; children, William Meade and Michelle Connolly; step-sons, Paul and Steven Ervin; 6 grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his father, George Meade Sr. and sister, Sheila.
The family would like to thank all of those who cared for George and for maintaining his dignity in his last days.
The family will receive guests, 10-11:00 a.m. Friday, February 5th, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis Lauman.
