George E. Williams, 90, passed away on March 19, 2013. He was born on December 5, 1922 to the late Doris and William Williams in Indianapolis, Indiana.
George was a proud US Army veteran of WWII where he served in The Battle of the Bulge. He worked as a Tile-Setter for 25 years. George retired from E.W. Saybolt where he worked as a Petroleum Inspector for 25 years. During that time, he was also a volunteer fireman for Springfield Township. George was an avid reader and enjoyed baseball, especially the Tigers and the Yankees. Another passion was tandem sky-diving. George completed 9 jumps in four different states, beginning at the age of 82 and the most recent was in October 2012. Family was very important to him and George loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Charlotte and son, Larry. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Daniel (Debbie), Patte (Dennis) Sensenbaugh and Debbie (Ric) Cully; grandchildren, Shelley (Kevin), Brian (Sara), Brooke (Barry), Alicia (Scott), Brent (Milisa), Daniel II (Jenny), Jennifer, Michael (Amber) and Melissa (Rich); great-grandchildren, Samantha, Hannah, Bryce, Georgianna, Annabelle, Michael, Macen, Elyse, Ava, Dylan, Braylon and Charlotte and his dear friends at the Sylvania Senior Center and Spring Creek Village in Bonita Springs, Florida.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 3-7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). A Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
George was an avid walker at Wildwood Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the family to purchase a lamp-post memorial at the park in his honor.
