George Edward Coury Jr.

George Edward Coury Jr., age 94, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo. He was born on June 24, 1928, in Cambridge, Ohio, to the late George and Susan (Prock) Coury Sr.
George proudly served in the United States Army, during the Korean War, which he was very proud of. In his younger years, he enjoyed boxing. George was a proud Syrian - Slovak; his heritage and knowing where his ancestors came from meant a lot to him. He worked at AP Parts as a punch press operator. After retirement, he enjoyed sitting on the porch where he would relax with a beer. While outside, George loved seeing the neighborhood cats and squirrels, which of course he would feed. He loved his dog and cat pets like family. He liked watching Channel 13 News, where he would learn what was going on locally and around the world. George would have the chaplain say a prayer for those who are hurting, especially what is going on in the Ukraine, and anyone else that would need a prayer said; he didn't want the prayer to be just about him, but anyone who is in need. He may have come across like a grumpy old man, but he was the sweetest guy with a gentle soul and would do anything for anybody. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to forever cherish his memory are his children, Helen Coury, George Coury III, Maggie Monhollen, Barbara Coury, and Michael Coury; two brothers, Walter and Ray Coury; and longtime friend, Dave Weidinger.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Laisure, Helen Coury, and Jeannette Coury.
