George C. Draves, Jr.

George C. Draves, Jr., age 88, of Temperance, MI passed away peacefully Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Ebeid Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 26, 1923 to George Sr. and Louise (Sheets) Draves in Toledo. George was a 1942 graduate of Whitmer High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving our country proudly in WWII. George was a brick mason throughout his life. He was a member of the Trilby Volunteer Fire Department for over 23 years and drove a school bus for Washington Local Schools for over 17 years. George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters. George is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Arla Jean; sons, Gary (Karen), John and Jack Draves; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sister, Lois Camp; and many other relatives and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 2 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
