George Balog

George L. Balog, age 78, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2006 at the Toledo Hospital. He was born in Akron, OH and has lived in Toledo for the past 30 years. He retired from Roadway Express and he also worked at South Toledo golf course and Detroit Toledo Auction. George received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church and the VFW. George loved golfing, fishing, gardening and the Cleveland Browns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Balog. George is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Virginia; son: George L. Balog, II; daughter: Carol Balog, of Doylestown, OH; sister: Margaret (Don) Jones, of Wadsworth; grandchildren: Mark, Amanda, Michael and Hunter; nieces and nephew: Debbie, Tim and Holly; sister-in-law: Edna (Pat); and many extended family members. He will be sadly missed by all of us!

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 1880 Genesee, Toledo, on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Military Honors and Burial will be Friday, July 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd. Rittman, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly accepted for St. Stephen's Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
