Genowefa "Genevieve" Stawny Nichols, age 81, of Adrian, formerly of Toledo, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Bixby Medical Center. She was born in Poland, November 3, 1923 to Stanislaw and Katerzyna Liszaj. She was taken at age 15 to Germany as forced labor in WWII. She married and immigrated to the U.S. through Ellis Island in 1952.
Genowefa is survived by her daughters: Barbara Utenker of Indianapolis, Helen (Wayne) Schall of Adrian, Cecilia (Ken) Knoke of Adrian, Henrietta Hummer of Toledo, Rosemary (James) Flury of Northwood,; grandchildren: Todd Lusher and Anne (J.J. Horvath) Lusher, Heather, Nicole and Benjamin Schall, Valerie, Stephanie and Jason Knoke, Angela and Matthew Hummer; great-grandchildren: Aaron and Asia. In addition to her parents, Genowefa was preceded in death by her 1st husband Stanley Stawny, 2nd husband Joseph Nichols and son David "Dennis" Nichols.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 from 2-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) where funeral services will take place Thursday at 10:30 A.M. with Deacon Ray Burzynski officiating. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
