Gene Newman

Gene Wesley "Geno" New-
man was called home to the
Heavenly Father on Wednes-
day, February 24th, 2010, at
Hospice of Northwest Ohio,
Perrysburg, Ohio. Gene was
born in Knoxville, Tennessee
to Deloris (Doane) and Frank
Newman on August 9th, 1937.
Gene lived in Toledo, Ohio
for the last 62 years, many of
them years were spent in the
Polish Village. He was em-
ployed at Vroman foods
"Frost bite" for 42 years as
a production supervisor
making premium ice cream
products. Gene enjoyed the
past 10 years in retirement.
He had a passion for golfing
with family and close friends
as well as playing shuffle
board and watching pool. He
was a great fan of Ohio State
Buckeye football along with
his Oakland Raiders. Gene
was a member of the Eagles
Club. Gene was a very giving
man that gave something to
every person he touched. He
attended Liberty Baptist
Church where he had many
friends.

Gene was preceded in death
by his father, Frank Newman
and daughter, Wanda New-
man. He leaves behind his mother,
Deloris; brother, Frank
(Karen) Jr.; daughter, Bonnie
(Tony) Mohr; son, James
(Marianne); special nieces,
Kendra Newman and Leslie
(Ron) Roop; eight grandchil-
dren and five great-
grandchildren.

The family will receive
guests 2-8:00 p.m. Friday at
Newcomer Funeral Home,
4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-
0300). Funeral Services will
be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in
the funeral home. Officiating
will be Pastor Rick Rush. In-
terment will follow in Ottawa
Hills Memorial Park.
