Gene A. Jeffers, of Maumee, passed away suddenly Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born on December 5, 1950 to Roland and Delores (Vollmar) Jeffers in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Gene was a graduate of Rossford High School in 1968. He then obtained his Associates Degree from Penta in Retail Management. In 2011, after 25 years of dedicated service he retired from UTMC. After retirement, he went back to school at the University of Toledo to continue his education in criminal justice and religion. Gene loved to read especially James Patterson novels and the Bible. He was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams being the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons. Gene enjoyed being outdoors, feeding the animals around the house and loved taking walks in the park. He was on a bowling league for many years with his wife and also liked golfing. Gene was a thrifter and a collector of antiques. He had a passion for the holidays and decorating, especially for Halloween and Christmas; something he was known for. Gene's smile, spirit, laugh and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Jan Jeffers; beloved daughter, Shelby (Jack Young) Jeffers; father, Rollie Jeffers; sister, Sally (Bill) Trouten; his fur grandbaby, Mason; niece, Chelsea (Josh) Pennington; nephew, Jason Copeland; and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, Toledo (419-381-1900) assisted the family with professional services.
