Gene F. Drath, age 74, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 24th, 2009 at Flower Hospital. He was born January 6th, 1935 to Charles and Martha (Busch) Drath in Toledo. Gene held a high work ethic and was proud of being employed with Conrail for 43 years, retiring in 1992. He loved reading about history and fascinating places around the world. Gene had a wonderful sense of humor, making everyone feel welcomed in his home and part of his family. He was also an avid cook, being remembered by all for his "21 Vegetables Soup". Gene was a loving and proud husband, father and grandfather and he cherished the time spent with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Charles Drath and Martha (Drath) Pholman, _Gene was preceded in death by his brother, James Drath. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy A. (Dusseau) Drath; daughters, Linda Skahill and Kathy Black; sons, Dennis (Tracy) Drath of Denver, CO and Chuck (Denise) Drath; grandchildren, Kara (Lucas) Gilliam; Joshua Black and Mericka Skahill; step-grandchildren, Nicole and Matthew Schmidt; great grandchildren, Ayden and Mason Gilliam and Zane Skahill; brother, Dale (Lola) Drath; sisters, Alice Sorter and Marian (Kenny) Gale and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
