Gaylord V. Francis

Gaylord Francis, age 82, of Maumee, Ohio passed peacefully while sleeping December 3rd. He will be missed greatly by his loving family, wife of 61 years, Ardith, son Michael Rick (Linda), daughter Rita (Don Braun), grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Jake, Drew and Nate; great grandchildren, Pierce and Saxon; and sister, Margie Meeks. Gaylord was a man of few words, however when he spoke, his wisdom was golden, and this will be one of the many memories of "Dad" that his family will treasure. As important as his words, his quiet actions were always ones of support and guidance for his children and grandchildren. He was a gentleman to all, whether stranger or friend.

Gaylord was born October 9, 1931 to Charles and Mary Francis. He married Ardith and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home he worked at Libby Owens Ford until his retirement. After retirement, Gaylord enjoyed gardening, reading extensively, fishing, collecting, and mostly, helping his children and friends with any number of home projects.

The family will receive guests Friday, December 6, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery.
