Gavin Scott Lee Taylor, affectionately known as Buddy, age 14, of Toledo, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly after many years of fighting a long and arduous battle with his illness. He was born on a warm November day in Toledo, on November 7, 2003 to Kevin L. Taylor, Jr. and Sheena T. (Patton) Cherko. No matter where Gavin went, he carried his presence with him and brought light into a dark world. His outgoing personality, strength and perseverance was admired by all who knew and loved him. He taught those around him how to love, how to fight, how to live and how to just be. This world is a better place with the impact and love that he had on others and those he met. For being non verbal he sure knew how to communicate without saying a word! His family will always remember his generous spirit, kind and loving soul and how he always brought his family together.
Gavin was an avid fan of Spongebob Squarepants, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. He enjoyed rock-n-roll music, swinging, moving wheels and The Ohio State Buckeye's Football!
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Sheena (Dale) Cherko and Kevin Taylor, Jr.; siblings, Gabraielle "Gabby", Gaje "Best Bud" and Logan; a large, loving extended family that includes grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and host of friends; excellent school caregivers, Mimi Malcolm and Jeff Mack; personal nurse and best friend, Maureen Montes and teacher, Kris Ilstrup. He was preceded in passing by his maternal great-grandmother, Barbara A. Peters; maternal great-grandfather, Jack Rife "Papaw" and two great-aunts, Jackie Cousino "MeMe" and Cindy Urban.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 12-4:00 p.m. at Newcomer - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). His Funeral Service will begin in the funeral home on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
The family would like to specially thank Dr. Rogalski, Dr. Haseeb, Dr. Reddy and the countless school staff and therapists that provided such diligent and wonderful loving care to Gavin over the years. Also to the nurses and staff on the Pediatric Floor of Mercy St. Vincent's Hospital for caring for him since the day he was born.
