Gary Lee Stearns "Shorty", 74, of Toledo, passed away July 6, 2021 at his home. Gary was born May 18, 1947 in Toledo to Cloyce and Ruthann (Swinford) Stearns.

He served his country during the Vietnam and Korean War in the Army. Gary worked for 30 years at General Motors before his retirement. He enjoyed all types of racing from horse racing to motorcycle racing. Gary had a passion for music and telling jokes.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Penny (Mindy) Stearns and Cary (Jen) Stearns; granddaughter, Michaeline (Caleb Foss) Stearns; grandsons, Hunter and Korey Johnson; great-grandson, Maverick Foss; and brother, Jerry Edwards.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Cloyce and Ruthann Stearns.

The family will receive guests Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) where Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Humane Society in Gary's memory.
