Gary L. Wengert, Sr.

Gary L. Wengert, Sr., age 71, of Ottawa Lake, MI, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at home. He was born on October 6, 1942 to William and Olive (Sugg) Wengert. Gary was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. serving his country proudly, retiring as a GNYSGT after 25 years of dedicated service. He was employed with GM Powertrain for 34 years before retiring. Gary loved to cook, fish and hunt. He was an avid outdoorsman, also enjoying gardening and farming. Gary loved nothing more than the time spent with his family, especially his
grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Janet Wengert; children, Gary Jr. (Anika) Wengert and Deborah (Christopher) Hall; grandchildren, William, Khristopher, Gareth, Chase, Asa, Alexandria, Antonia, Nick, Alaysia, Alaya, Alayka and Alaysa; sister, Victoria (Richard) Hanes; best friends, Dexter and Larry; and many other relatives and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery.
