Gary L. "Spoony" Spoonmore, age 66, of Temperance, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 30, 1947 to Maxwell and Wrinna (McMahan) Spoonmore in Toledo. Gary was employed with General Mills for 27 years before retiring. He was a very dedicated, hard worker throughout his life. Gary loved the metro parks, bike riding and fishing; especially perch and ice fishing. He was a master carpenter, even building his own home. Gary also liked to travel and was an avid fan of the Toledo Mud Hens; enjoying games with his son-in-law, Will. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Chris "Buck" Spoonmore and grandparents. Gary is survived by his loving wife of almost 46 years, Barbara Spoonmore; daughter, Angela (William) Shortridge; son, Alex (Nicole) Spoonmore; grandsons, Brendan and Jacob Spoonmore; mother, Wrinna Spoonmore; sister, Peggy (Phil) Malone; mother-in-law, Ruth Barger; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Tammi) and Dave Barger; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
