Gary Filas

Gary S. Filas, age 55, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2006. He was born October 5, 1951 to Norman and Elaine (Mehle) Filas in Toledo. Gary was employed with Frame Pest Control for 35 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. For 18 years Gary coached and inspired many children of the Longfellow-Larchmont Steelers, a part of the WTLFL. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and his memory will stay with them forever.

In addition to his father, Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Filas and brother-in-law, Carl Stachowick. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Ellen (Babcock) Filas; daughters, Ellen (John) Filas-Wawrzyniak and Shelley Bielak; son, Gary (Erica) Filas; grandchildren, Nathaniel Wawrzyniak; Victoria Bielak and Austin and Alec Filas; mother, Elaine Filas; brother, Larry (Sharon) Filas; sisters-in-law, Joyce Filas and Judy Stachowiak; brother-in-law, Jim Babcock; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Bona (Nicholson) Babcock and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
