Gary R. Corbin

August 12, 1935 — August 15, 2023

It is with deep sadness the family of Gary Corbin announce his passing. On August 15, 2023, Gary Ray Corbin, 88, passed away peacefully in Waterville Ohio.

The eldest of six children, Gary was born in Bowling Green Kentucky on August 12, 1935 to Mamie Louise and William Raymond Corbin. His family moved to Adrian Michigan where he worked with his father in the horticulture business at a local greenhouse. The Corbin family then moved to Jacksonville Illinois where Gary worked in a machine shop with his best friend. He graduated high school in 1953 and joined the Marine Corp.

Gary met the love of his life, Helen Maxine Ward, after he returned from serving in the United States Marines. They were married in Jacksonville on July 10, 1955. Gary and his young bride moved into their first home in Illinois and started their family. In 1958, they moved to Ohio where their family continued to grow and they raised their two sons and two daughters. Their family enjoyed many camping vacations together where Gary passed along his love of nature to his four children. Gary and Helen were blessed with 67 years of marriage and their union was a beautiful example of Christian
love.

Gary was employed by Truesdell GMC in Toledo Ohio as a Mechanic and eventually became the Service Manager. Later, he became the Fleet Maintenance Manager for the City of Monroe Michigan. He retired in 1997 and moved to Arizona where he and Helen enjoyed life in the Grand Canyon state making many wonderful memories. They were active members of the Church of Christ in Sun City. In 2019, Gary and Helen moved back to Ohio to be closer to family.

Gary had a love for traditional Bluegrass music. Recently, he had acquired a banjo and was studying how to pick and play. While he would say he was an amateur at best, Helen thoroughly enjoyed listening to the toe tapping tunes he was learning to play!

Gary was a man of honor and integrity. He was a hard worker and a true gentleman who loved his family dearly. He passed away after bravely battling pulmonary fibrosis. While he was a man of gentle and quiet spirit, Gary showed incredible strength, hope and grit and was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.

The family extends a thank you to the staff at StoryPoint Waterville and to the special people at Ohioans Home Healthcare for their friendship and for the loving care they provided.

Gary will be deeply missed by his daughters Dianne (Jim) Cameron and Kimberly (Perry) Vogelsang; grandchildren Brandon (Jennifer) Corbin, Matthew Bires, Joseph (Jennell) Bires, Kirsten (Michael) Rustenbach and Jennifer (Lance) Annen; great-grandchildren Trevor Bires, Alexander and Oliver Corbin, Corbin Rustenbach, Brady, Reed and Drew Annen, Landon and Oliver Frye; sister Joyce Holstein; brothers and sisters-in law Jerry (Judy), Robert (Sandi) and Norma Corbin; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He will also be dearly missed by his beloved poodle Toby. Gary's legacy of love continues and will include two more great-grandchildren in the fall of 2023.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife Helen; sons Gary and Michael Corbin; sister Dorothy Tabor; brother James Corbin and his parents Raymond and Louise Corbin.

Gary will take his final rest alongside his wife Helen in a private burial at Roth Memorial Cemetery, Monclova Ohio. The family invites you to join them to celebrate his life on Tuesday September 19, 2023 at Waterville Community Church 8217 Dutch Road Waterville Ohio 43566. Visitation will be at 3:00pm; memorial service at 4:00pm; followed by dinner.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman, accomplished hunter and fisherman. It is worth noting he won The Golden Wheelbarrow
Award more often than any other hunter in camp. He had a true appreciation for God's beauty in nature. If you would like to
