Frederick W.M. Freeman, Sr., age 73, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2016 after a struggle with Parkinson's. He was born on November 29, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio.
Fred was a 1960 graduate of Libbey High School. On September 1, 1967 he joined the Toledo Police Force. He served as a dedicated uniformed officer until his retirement on June 6, 1991. Fred was proud of his involvement with the K-9 unit and his children fondly remember his dogs, Toggie and Baron.
Fred coached his children's baseball teams and was a volunteer umpire for Maumee Little League. He never missed a game! Fred was a life-long Yankees fan and also enjoyed rooting for the Buffalo Sabers. His grandchildren affectionately called him, "Grandpa Buffalo" due to his love of the Old West. Fred would regularly attend his grandchildren's sporting events as their biggest fan.
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jacquelene in 2014; parents, Frederick and Ethel Mae and step-father, Lamar Raberg. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Fred Jr. (Sarah), Scott, Greg, Jeff and Kelly (Tim) Dinkens; sister, Ethel (Nelson) Damschroder; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Mike) O'Guin and Kathy (Bob) Foster and grandchildren, Ryan, Zach, Kayla and Cody.
The family will receive guests from 2-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The F.O.P. Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Friends and family may visit from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
