Frederick R. Hakius, Jr.

Frederick "Rick" Hakius, Jr., age 56, of Maumee, passed away Friday, September 9th, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born May 13th, 1955 to Frederick R. Sr. and Paula (Wright) Hakius in Toledo. Rick graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1973. He was employed with Foodtown for many years, retiring in 1993 due to his health. Rick was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers with his dad and his son. He loved Classic Cars and was the owner of a 1967 Camaro Convertible. Rick was excited when his daughter, Allyson married in August and it was his prize Camaro that was used to transport the bride and groom as they began their new life as husband and wife. They were married at Rosary Cathedral, the very church that Rick and his bride of 33 years, Jacalynn, were married. Rick was a loving and devoted husband, father and son. His most recent moments of joy were the opportunities to attend his son, Kyle's graduation from the University of Toledo in May and escorting his daughter, Allyson down the aisle at her wedding in August.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Paula Hakius. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jacalynn (Gust) Hakius; daughter, Allyson (Ben) Wichner of Cincinnati, OH and son, Kyle Frederick Hakius; father, Frederick Hakius, Sr.; sister, Nancy (Greg) Randolph of Brighton, MI.; uncle, John Hakius; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Mary Gust; brothers-in-law, William (Linda) and Daniel (Bernice) Gust; sisters-in-law, Karen (Stephen) Mossing, Dorothy (Michael) Rouppas and Mary Frances (Robert) Harr. Rick is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests Tuesday from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

The Hakius Family would like to thank all of Rick's healthcare providers over the years for their loving care and support. It was with their guidance and friendships that Rick and his family were able to face his many challenges.
