Fred P. Pollauf, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2016. He was born on April 24, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio.
Fred was a Construction Estimator for various construction companies throughout Toledo. He was owner of Thom's Van Supply for 14 years with his wife and sons. Fred was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church for 49 years where he was an usher for many years. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in Germany as a helicopter mechanic. Through the years, Fred and his wife enjoyed camping, traveling, western square dancing and swimming at the Collingwood Center. Fred also enjoyed playing cards with family and many friends. He loved woodworking and being an all-around handyman. Fred's family and friends will remember him best by his goofy sense of humor, quick wit, homemade pecan rolls and peanut brittle.
Left to cherish his memory is his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 62 years, Mary "Jewele"; children, Jeff, Neil (Kim), Joyce (Don) Dauer, Laura (Dan) Burke, Sharon (John) Kreger; grandchildren, Andrew, Kevin, Haley, Jessica, Miranda, Joel, Jeremy and Carly; acquired "grandchildren", Van-Nessa and Tayla; sisters, Rita DeNies and Ginny Seeman; sisters-in-law, Lois Pollauf and Ruth Stammen and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray, Ben, Art, Dick, Paul, Harry and sister, Rene.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). The Rosary Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Catherine of Siena, 4555 N. Haven Ave. Family and friends may visit at church from 9-10:00 a.m. prior to Mass.
