Frank "Butch" Rokicki, 80, of Toledo passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 11, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio and was one of two children born to Frank and Frances (Simon) Rokicki. Butch met his wife, Joan (Samberg) at a gathering. Due to a large number of people trying to cram into a very small car, Joan was forced to sit on Butch's lap. Such began a lifelong love between the two of them, and he devoted his life to her and his family. Butch enjoyed spending time with his family, coaching his daughters' sports teams, and playing golf, softball, and bowling. Four words can be associated with Butch; friendly, funny, compassionate, and devoted. Butch had worked various jobs including the U.S. Post Office, Jeep, and he retired from Sun Oil where he worked as a materials coordinator. He was a long-time member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children Lori, Donald, and Debra. Butch was preceded in death by his wife, Joan in 2014 and sister, Judy Leonard in 2017.
A private memorial service will be held for family. Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
In remembrance of Butch Rokicki, our family would like you to perform one random act of kindness in his honor or consider contributions to the MS Society.
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be.
So He closed His arms around you,
And whispered, "Come to Me."
You didn't deserve what you went through,
And so he gave you … rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
And when I saw you sleeping
So peaceful … free from pain,
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone.
For a part of us went with you,
The day God took you home
