Frank Repar, Jr.

February 5, 1932 — December 3, 2020

Frank Repar, Jr., age 88, of Toledo, Ohio passed away December 3, 2020 at University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born February 5, 1932 in Cleveland, OH to Frank, Sr. and Amelia Repar. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Belva Leazon of 65 years; daughters, Susan K. Young and Pamela Jo Repar. He is survived by son, Jeffrey A. (Christine) Repar; grandchildren, Kaila, Kirstin and Zachary Repar, Sherri (Shawn) McGuire and Erick (Lisa) Young and great grandson, Liam McGuire.

He was a graduate of Macomber Vocational High School and the University of Toledo. His Bachelor's and Master's Degrees were in Education with a major in Mathematics. Frank was a true Blue and Gold Rocket fan. His employment included Libbey Owens Ford for 17 years, teaching mathematics at East Side Central and East Toledo Junior High School for 29 years, and upon retirement, teaching a computer course at Owens Community College.

Frank was volunteered to coach track in Junior High of which he knew almost nothing. To learn more about track and field, Frank took the State Track and Field Officials course, which lead to 25 years of officiating that included 7 assignments at the State Championship Meet. He coached basketball and track at Junior High School and volleyball at Waite and Start High Schools. His Army career began 1951 with a poor start. He failed potato peeling the first time he had KP duty so the cook advanced him to pots and pans. He served his first eight years in the enlisted grades where he rose to SFC. Frank was offered a chance to go to OCS which he completed, and then remained active in the National Guard and Army Reserves retiring as a LTC. One of his assignments included serving as an instructor in the 2087th U.S. Army Reserve School located in Toledo. He served as President of the local area Chapter of the Reserve Officers Association in 1980. As Historian of the American Legion Post 553 his books earned First, Second and Third Place in National Competition.

His participation in sports included bowling where he scored one 300 game and gold where he scored his only two eagles in one round…that was a great day.

A Celebration of Franks life will be held at the American Legion Post 553, 206 South Byrne Road, Toledo, OH Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
