Frank J. Koinis, age 88, of Plymouth, Michigan passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012 in the Brighton Gardens Nursing Home. He was born September 15, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio to James and Pauline Koinis. Frank graduated from Case Western Reserve after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army following WWII, with a degree in Engineering. He was a professional engineer who was employed over 40 years in the Steel Industry as a Mechanical Engineer. Frank was a lifelong learner and an avid student of history, science and mathematics.
The widower of Geraldine Koinis who passed away in 1984, Frank is survived by his loving children, George (Cheri) Koinis, Thomas (Jenny) Koinis and Diane Segroves; grandchildren, Stephen (Louise) Segroves, Sophia Koinis, Erin (Jay) Bas, Maria Koinis, Elizabeth Segroves and Gerry (Dori) Koinis; great granddaughter, Eva Segroves; brothers, John Koinis, William Koinis and Xenophone Koinis. In addition to his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Hap and Chris Koinis.
The family will receive guests Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
