Francis J. "Frank" Velliquette, age 74, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at Genacross of Lutheran Village at Wolfcreek, Holland, Ohio. He was born July 26, 1947 in Toledo to Thomas and Jeannette (Gallimore) Velliquette. Frank graduated from Woodward High School and soon after joined the US Army serving his country proudly. He was employed with the City of Toledo for more than 20 years.
Frank enjoyed being outside whether it was working in his yard or hosting family cook-outs. Family was important to Frank and he was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather, cherishing the time he was able to spend with them and his canine companion "Blacky".
Frank was also proud of his Polish heritage and liked to listen to the Polka Hour every Sunday morning hosted by Chet and MaryLou
In addition to his parents, Frank was also preceded in death by his brother, Denny Velliquette and dear friend, Joey Miller. He is survived by his children, Shelly (Sonney) Abitua, Sean (Stephanie) Velliquette, Dawn (Rick) Hornyak and Kim (Jose) Velliquette; siblings, Thomas Velliquette and his late wife, Bertha and sister, Janet Davis and her late husband, Jerry; grandchildren; Brian, Marissa, Bryan, Sonney Jr., Dyllan, Mike, Gabe, Jessica and Carlos; great grandchildren, Bralyn Eli, Bailey and another one on the way. Frank's memory will also be remembered by his longtime neighbor and friends, the Martinez Family.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Military Services will be conducted Tuesday at 3;00 p.m. at the funeral home by the Northwood VFW Post #2984.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Frank's memory.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Phinney with the Toledo Clinic and the Staff of Genacross, especially nurse, Rosemary and Chaplain Greg Olson for the loving care and compassion they showed Frank and his family during the last many months.
