Frances R. Wagner, age 91 of Sylvania, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Kingston Care Center in Sylvania. She was born August 9, 1920 to Anthony and Elizabeth (Burkholder) Stritzel in Toledo. Frances worked at St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center and Toledo Hospital as a surgical nurse; she retired from Toledo Hospital after 17 years of service. Prior to working as a surgical nurse, Frances worked at Champion Spark Plug during WWII and was a former Cub Scout leader. Frances also worked alongside her daughter at Fenwick Fine Art Gallery and enjoyed the camaraderie that she shared with many of the clients. She was a longtime member of Trilby United Methodist Church where she was very active in church life and also served on the church guild. Frances was a dedicated donor to the American Red Cross where she earned numerous lapel pins for donated blood and platelets.
In her spare time she enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens; working in the yard; fishing and traveling extensively throughout the United States with her late husband, Charles F. Wagner. Their grandchildren were very important to them and they loved nothing more then to take their grandchildren on vacation with them. Frances will be remembered as a loving and supportive mother who often put the needs of her family before her own.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 2006; daughter, Karolyn Sue Wagner; son-in-law, Royden Freshour; sisters, Lucille Norville and Kathlene Oswald and brother, John Stritzel. Left to cherish her memory is her children, Beverly Freshour, Bonnie (Robert) Owens and Charles (Arlene) Wagner; sisters, Wilma (David) Pegorsch and Barbara (Edward) Widanka; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
