Frances (Verna) Phillips, 84, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Hospice of Perrysburg. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 18, 1927.
Verna was a volunteer at Flower Hospital in the gift shop for over 20 years. On her 80th birthday she was given a surprise birthday party. It was later discovered that this was the first birthday party that she ever had.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, J. Benton Phillips. Verna is survived by her children, John (Sue) Phillips, Diane (Mike) McGee, Bob and Ron Phillips, 8 grandchildren John (Michelle) Phillips, Kris (Chad) Boyd, Rich Phillips, Gordy Heminger, Kasey Rathburn, BethAnn Phillips and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
