Floyd E. Swope, Jr., age 64, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 at the University of Toledo Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 25th, 1946 to Floyd and Emma (Yingling) Swope, Sr. in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. JR attended Libbey High School. After high school he joined the Navy, serving his country proudly. JR was employed with Chemcentral for 35 years where he was a Union Steward. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed following Nascar. JR was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, cherishing the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he babysat for after retiring.
JR was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Swope; brother, Dennis Swope; 2 infant siblings and first wife, Mary Jakab. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Linda M. Swope; sons, Floyd, Mark and Brian Swope and Nathaniel (Molly) McCoy; daughters, Tamra (Tim) Sauerwein and Amanda (Mark) Winkle; brothers, Tom, Tim and Melvin (Helen) Swope; sisters, Lola (Mel) Murray and Connie (Don) Rayman; grandchildren, Seth, Sam, Sierra and Jenna Swope, Emma and Mason Winkle, Madeline and Nathaniel, Jr. McCoy and Faith and Timothy II Sauerwein.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-4730-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
