Florestela Thomas

April 16, 1947 — May 23, 2022

Our beloved Florestela Thomas born on April 16, 1947, in South Texas, passed from this earth peacefully, while in Hospice care, after a brief illness with cancer, on May 23rd, 2022.

Stella was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life was a life of work and of service as she spent her time in the service of her many jobs, her much cherished family, and to her faith. Anyone who was of her family, or had the great fortune to be a part of her life knew the joy and unconditional love she brought to everyone around her. An open mind, an infectious laugh, and an endless dishes of food were part of any time spent with her in her home. She was gifted in making all types of authentic Mexican home cooking, including the family favorite of Tamales which would cause a spirited fight as to who got the " first batch". Knitting and crocheting items for everyone was always a treasured item when she gave one away. She loved family gathering outdoors with a cookout, or on her garden patio sharing food and stories.

Stella's story is also the story of her beloved husband Bobbie Thomas, who she shared all her joys and trials. They were each other's soul mates who in the years of their marriage Stella was the happiest she was for her entire life. She will be truly missed until they reunite in heaven.

Stella was a fierce and loving mother that through many struggles did and gave literally all she had so her children could have a life she believed that they deserved. Hard work, fairness to all, and toughness with an open heart is her legacy she leaves to her children.

Finally no words about Stella are complete without one knowing her unconditional and unending love she held for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known lovingly as "GG". Not one was ever left out of her open arms, open heart, or her endless plates of food. She loved any time spent and was active in making sure she was a part of everyone's lives.

Florestela was preceeded in death by her parents Francisco Ramirez and Carmen Casas, daughter Mary Thomas and grandson Justin Rushlow. She is survived by her husband Bobbie Wayne Thomas Sr., her siblings Sigifredo (Gracie) Ramirez, Jose Martin (Ada) Ramirez, Carmen Casas, and Misael ( Jocelyn) Ramirez. She is also survived by her children Wallace ( Jennifer) Rushlow, Stella ( Larry) Wymer, Bobbie (Carol) Thomas, Cora Herbert, Barbara (Jon) Hutson, Rose (Austin) Klapp, and Ruth Benson.
