Florence V. Koehl, age 88, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, where she was surrounded by her loving family. She worked at the University of Toledo for 21 years as a clerk in the mailroom, retiring on November 30, 1989. In her leisure, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She looked forward to the bus trips to the casinos in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, where she could try her luck on the slot machines. She was a former member of St. Agnes Catholic Parish. Most recently, Florence had been a resident of Kingston Care Center in Sylvania for the past 10 years. She will be dearly missed and her spirit will continue to touch all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving sons, Jerry, John (Karen) and Ed; grandchildren, Shawna and Brad (Koehl) Denkhaus, Eric (Tara) Walton, Joe (Trezza) Koehl, Jason Koehl, Andrea and Jamie (Koehl) Kellar, Brittney Koehl and Brian Koehl; eight great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Art Walton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Koehl and daughter, Diane Walton.
The family will celebrate her life on Monday, April 29, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The family will receive guests on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena, 4555 North Haven Ave., Toledo, Ohio. Her Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Francis J. Speier officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
