Florence L. Merritt, age 88, is now at peace after a lengthy illness. Florence passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Spring Meadows Extended Care Facility in Holland, OH, she presided previous to that in Monclova Twp., for 5 ½ years, prior to that she resided in Toledo. She was born in Marlington, West Virginia to George S. and Isabelle Hall. Florence worked at National Food Store which was located at Sylvania and Douglas. She worked as a caregiver for several years. Her main occupation was a wonderful homemaker. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, a person to always be there to lend a helping hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vincent, sister Mildred Stone, brothers, Samuel, Howard and Edward Hall and grandson Todd Bobrick. Florence is survived by her daughters: Marilyn M. (William) Corbin, Karen (Rick Walczak) Coffey; sons: James L. (Annette) Merritt, Robert E. (Loisan) Merritt; grandchildren: Gary Bobrick, Cheryl Merritt, Michael Merritt, Jodi Halka and Jeffrey Merritt; great-grandchildren: Ashlee Bobrick, Logan and Levi Halka.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, August 10, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) from 2 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Jerry S. Craig. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
The family wishes to extend the utmost gratitude to all of the staff of Spring Meadows Extended Care Facility for the loving care, comfort, and support they gave to us and our mother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Heart Assocation or a charity of the donor's choice.
