Florence Masiulaniec

Florence (Quick) Masiulaniec, age 91, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was born in Sutton-in-Ashfield Nottinghamshire England on May 21, 1931 to Cyril and Florence (Qupit) Quick, she was one of five daughters. She grew up with her four sisters but she and Hazel were like two peas in a pod. Where you saw one you were sure to see the other.

Florence met her to be husband after he was discharged from the Army and he settled in Sutton-in-Ashfield, where they met and married. Hearing of good jobs in America they decided to pack up two travel suit cases and their three children and settled in Toledo, Ohio. Later they had one more child and moved to Lagrange St. where a small beauty salon was built next to the house. She decided to call it Londonaire Beauty Salon. She made a good business in the neighborhood for 26 years retiring December 31, 1989.

She loved her children, grandchildren, traveling to Pigeon Forge, Florida Branson Missouri and other places. Florence liked to camp at Harrison Lake near Fayette, Ohio. She loved to plant tomatoes and always had lots of marigolds. We all loved her quick wit. She loved to give her grandchildren 50 cent pieces. She enjoyed potato pancakes, steak fries with vinegar, sausage biscuits, French toast, scrambled egg sandwiches, pancakes with syrup and hot milk with coffee and sugar, and corn chips. She loved her sweets; chocolate covered cherries, windmill cookies, shortbread cookies, grahams dipped in fudge, fudge stripes, nutty buddies, caramel stripes, vanilla wafers, heath bars, twix, caramels, butter scotch candy, peanut butter cups, vanilla and tapioca pudding, cheese cake and last but least pumpkin pie- the list is long. She enjoyed an apricot or a peach flavored brandy on occasion.

In 1979, in the summer she got to see her mom, sisters, their husbands, nieces and nephews that she hadn't seen in years, some she had never seen before. Saw and talked to old friends. Florence got to go visit home one more time in 1989. Some of them weren't there anymore, but it was good to see the ones that were.

Florence was a tough, no nonsense little lady, didn't take no guff, but she had a good heart and always tried to be fair. She always loved finding a good deal or great bargain. She certainly could stretch a dollar. Everything plus more all rolled up into that person is why we will always love and miss her.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Florence Quick; husband, Kazimirz Masiulaniec; son, Konstanty Cyril Masiulaniec; grandson, Robert Becker; great grandson, William Masiulaniec, II; sisters, Cynthia (Robert) Remmington, Hazel (Raymond) Mathews; nephew, Jeffery Mathews; and niece, Jeanette Mason. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Karolina Masiulaniec, Jenny Becker, Christine Masiulaniec; grandchildren, Karol Ann Luce, David Luce, William Masiulaniec, Christopher Hudson, Michael Becker, Michelle Becker, Wendy Caris, Kelly St. Pierre, Jonathan Masiulaniec, Elizabeth Masiulaniec; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Michael) Armstrong and Christine (Arthur) Mason; daughter-in-law, Betty Ann Masiulanie; nephew, George (Jennifer) Joniec and family; niece, Barbra (John) Wiesolek and family, and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive guests Monday, March 27, 2023 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery.
