Evelyn M. Latz, age 91, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. She was born on September 26, 1920 to Frederick Latz, Sr. and Ruby Jane (Barrett) Latz in Windber, PA. For over 47 years she worked at the former Credit Bureau of Toledo where she was passionate and dedicated to the banking industry. Evelyn had strong faith in God and was a 36 year member of Toledo Baptist Temple. She often wrote letters to former Presidents and to Elvis and his family. When the Presidents or Elvis' family corresponded with Evelyn, she took those mementos and created memory albums that her family cherishes today. She remained in contact with Elvis' family for nearly 20 years. Evelyn also saved historical newspaper articles dating back to WWII. Her family will remember her as a generous and kind-hearted lady who would open her home to anyone in need.
Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews, Phyllis Bomar, Sandra (Wilhelm) Falk, Ruby Palauro, Frederick Latz, III and Dora Lincoln; many loving great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Frederick B. Latz, Jr.; sister-in-law, Hazel Marie Latz; nephews, Orville Bomar and Ronnie Nelson; niece, Barbara Latz and great nephew, Guy Nelson.
The family will receive guests Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
