Evelyn Faye Heinlen, age 104, passed away on August 5, 2016 at Addison Heights Nursing Home in Maumee. Evelyn was born August 11, 1911, on a farm west of McComb, Ohio. She earned a degree from Ohio University before it was common for women to do so. She then taught school and coached girls' basketball in McComb. Evelyn Smith and Wallace Heinlen had to "run off" to Covington, KY to get married secretly so that she could continue to teach for the rest of the year. She enjoyed being around her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn was very determined and "bossy" right up to the end. She also tutored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their school work right up to her death. She used her Ipad to keep up with her great grandchildren's exploits. She will be missed.
Left to cherish her memory, is her son, Douglas (Dorothy "Meg") Heinlen; daughters, Laura Ordorica; Virginia (George) Pugh; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace.
Visitation and services will be private.
