Eva White

March 7, 1933 — February 6, 2025

Toledo

Mrs. Eva White who was also affectionately known as “Doll” and the “Hat Lady” was born on Tuesday March 7th, 1933 to the late James Bush Sr. and Hattie Lee Bush in Guntown, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert G. White, granddaughter Linden Daniels, brothers Euther Lee Sadler Jr., James Bush Jr., and four sisters Katherine Esters, Lurine Lane, Evelyn Bush and Mattie Perkins.

During her life she held various jobs that included but were not limited to working for the Toledo Public School System and being a care provider. Eva accepted and loved God at an early age. She loved people and she never met a stranger no matter where she was. Her sweet potato pie was the best and if you were able to have a slice- it was a taste from an angel. She was funny and witty and one thing for certain is you could count on her to crack a joke or two. Her laughter was contagious, her smile infectious and her soul was pure. She was a praying woman, a kind woman and a gentle spirit. She loved bingo, elephants, cooking, music, lottery tickets, the Kentucky Derby and last but not least her family. Her favorite color was purple and she loved to sing! You would often hear B.B. King’s, “The Thrill is Gone”, “Walk Around Heaven All Day” or Reverend F.C. Barnes’ “Rough side of the Mountain.”

She lit up any room she walked into. Although she was a mother to her biological children she was also a mother to many others along the way. While she endured many challenges and hardships through her life, she did her best and one would never know any challenges she may have faced because she carried herself with such grace. She always put others before herself and for that we know she is truly walking around heaven all day. Last but not least she loved everyone, especially everyone in her family. She made sure to say it daily that she loved EVERYONE.

Eva is survived by children Dora, Alfonzo “Fonzie”, Darlene, Percy, Yvonne, Rodney (Shawnet), Shirley (Lee), Natalie (Terry) and Christopher; Grandchildren Shelva, Takara, DaLonna Michael Jr., Tunnell, Ebone, Rodney Jr., Aaron, Keisha, Adrianna, Brianna, Devyn, Nairobi, Anthony and LeRoy Jr., Brothers William Bush Sr. (Gladys), Cecil Bush (Jackie); Sister Joyce Bush, 22 great grandchildren and a loving number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
