Eugene Hernacki, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, 2/22/2022, surrounded by his family. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on 12/08/1936 to Martha (Klosinski) and Stanley Hernacki, one of nine children. After graduating from Woodward HS he joined the US Marine Corps. His service took him to Camp Pendleton in California, Hawaii and Subic Bay in the Philippine Islands, where he met his wife of 64 years, Dioscora. He returned to Toledo after his service, where he attended Davis College and worked as a set up man at GM Powertrain, retiring in 2006 after 46 years. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, fishing, hunting, road trips to Florida, South Carolina and Cedar Point, and sharing stories of his adventures while serving as a military police officer.
He was preceded in death by daughter Genia Hernacki.
He is survived by wife, Dioscora Hernacki; daughters, Karen Payne, Teresa (Wallace) Peoples, Sandra Hernacki (Pietrzak); sons, Fred (Sheryl) Hernacki, and Christopher Hernacki; Grandchildren, Erika White, Justin Tibbits, Calvin and Andrew Murray, Alexa Payne, Brittany Jones, Taylor Valencia-Webb, Hunter, Ashley and Alaia Peoples, Alana Pietrzak, Alecia and Jada Hernacki, Christopher Jr, Mekaylah and Josh Hernacki, Alexander Hernacki and Hope Grove, and several great grandchildren.
Services will be private. His ashes will be spread over the Hawaiian and the Philippine Islands as he requested.
