Eugene H. Largent, Sr.

Eugene H. "Gene" Largent, Sr., age 86, of Toledo, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, December 4, 2011. Gene was born on May 8, 1925 to Jesse and Beulah Largent in Three Churches, West Virginia. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, in the European Theatre. A longtime member of Wyldewood Baptist Church, he was a deacon, teacher, head usher, and served on numerous boards. Gene loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verda Largent; son, Eugene H. Largent, Jr.; granddaughter, Angelique Largent; brother, Blake Largent; and sister, Alma Likens. Gene is survived by his loving children, Linda (Barry) DeShetler, Kathleen Largent, Sandra Hall, and Dale (Christen) Largent; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jay and Wallace Largent; and friend, Iris Molyneux.

The family will receive guests on Friday from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Wyldewood Baptist Church, 5732 Douglas Rd., Toledo, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make monetary donations are asked to consider Wyldewood Baptist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
