Eugene G. Barnes

Eugene G. "Gene" Barnes, age 87, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born on June 13, 1927 to John and Mary (Kingsley) Barnes in Toledo. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his country during WWII. He was a painter for over 32 years and then worked security before retiring in January 2011. Gene was a member of the Northern Lights Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Zenobia Shrine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; and brother, Howard Barnes. Gene is survived by his loving daughter, Jacqueline (Billy) Porter, Jr.; grandchildren, Edwin, Neil and Crystal; siblings, Helen Johnson and James "Scott" (Cathy) Barnes.

The family will receive guests on Friday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Masonic Services at 7:00 p.m. conducted by the Northern Light #40 Free and Accepted Masons. Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
