Ethel Pontious

Ethel M. Pontious, age 82 of Holland, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Arbors of Sylvania surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 24, 1928 to Emory and Goldie (Lewis) Robinson in Greenup, Kentucky. Ethel married Robert "Bob" Pontious on May 20, 1950 in Angola, Indiana and they spent 60 wonderful years together. Ethel was a longtime member of Bethel Assembly of God in Perrysburg where she was known as, "Ethel from Bethel." She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always putting her family first. Ethel enjoyed taking care of her family and she especially enjoyed getting the family together and preparing all the holiday dinners over the years. She was an avid gardener, tending to her flower beds. Ethel also enjoyed in her spare time, canning her own vegetables and quilting.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Elmo, Sam and Leland Robinson and her beloved canine companion, Hoby. Survivors include her husband, Bob; children, Gary (Marilyn), Rick (Cathy), Kenneth (Brenda) Pontious and Kathy (Rick) Petree; 8 grandchildren, Gary (Monica), Melissa (Jim), Ricky (Heather), Kim (Mark), Nick (Stacy), Brent (Valerie), Jeremy and Elizabeth; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Cline and brother, Jim Cornwell.

The family will receive guests from 2-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300).
