Ethel B. Harvey

May 3, 1932 — March 20, 2024

Mother Ethel B. Harvey was born May 3,1932 in Lafayette, Alabama to the union of the late Gillian and Ada Walker. She departed this life on March 20, 2024 after a lengthy illness at the age of 91 years old. Despite her illness, Mother Harvey fought valiantly, while maintaining a cheerful demeanor and most of all, keeping her Faith in God.

Mother Harvey confessed in Christ at an early age. She joined the Parkwood Seventh Day Adventist Church in Toledo, Ohio where she was an active and devoted member for over 30 plus years until her death. Mother Harvey was active on many Church Auxiliaries including Deaconess and involved in Community Outreach.

Mother Harvey met and married the late John Harvey.

Mother Harvey was employed 40 plus years in multiple positions, including Dietary Supervisor for The State Of Ohio Mental Health Center, where she eventually retired.

Mother Harvey was extremely devoted to her family. She could always be found in the kitchen preparing large meals for her family, including her favorite German Chocolate Cake every Holiday for the family to enjoy. Despite the size of her family, she made sure the family celebrated Holidays together which was extremely important to her.

Mother Harvey also enjoyed gardening including growing various vegetables and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her son David Harvey; four sisters, Ella Mae Hattaway, Louise Walker, Emma Rose Vaughn, and Dorothy Ruth Godley. Grandsons, Otis Brian Harvey and Jeff Whitlow. Special friends, the late Sister Gladys Taylor and the late Sister Thelma Adkins.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, John (Emily) Whitlow, Stanley (Chase) Harvey, Rickey Harvey of Toledo, and James Harvey of Boston, MA. Three daughters, Deborah Harvey of New Port News VA, Darlene Harvey and her primary caregiver Denise (Ronald) Stokes of Toledo, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 11 great greatgrandchildren. Special Friend, Sister Marsha Tyson and a host of other family and friends.

A special thanks to her dear friend Dr. Kettlie Daniels who provided ongoing care, comfort and spiritual support to Mother during her extended illness. Also special thanks to Pastor Steven C. Valles for his spiritual care and support. And additional thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and support.
