Esther Marie Rose

Esther Marie Rose, 89, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully, on June 7th with her family by her side. Esther was born on June 24, 1932 to Benjamin and Loretta (King) Rochelle in Toledo, Ohio. After Esther graduated from Whitney Vocational High School in 1950, she worked at Ohio Bell as a switchboard operator for two years.

In 1948, Esther met James Rose at Morris Five and Ten, where they both worked. They were married in 1951 when James returned from the Korean War; they went on to have 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. In 1952 they started building their home where they raised their family where she remained until the last two weeks before her passing.

In addition to keeping a lovely home, making delicious meals, and taking excellent care of everyone, she was an active member of St. Clement Parish starting in 1951. She was also the receptionist and co-owner of Rose Floor covering for 32 years. Esther enjoyed traveling with her husband. Some of their more memorable trips included Hawaii, driving a van to Alaska along the Alcan Highway, and Korea. She dedicated her life to her family; her legacy is the love she gave to her husband, children and grandchildren. We will all miss her dearly, but have wonderful memories of family dinners, birthday parties with the perfect chocolate cake, sunny days by the pool, and the Rose family Christmas Eve with homemade fudge and the "flaming purple cabbage."

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard and Frank; and sister-in-law, Gertrude.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 71 years, James; children, Elaine (Tim) Forrester, Richard (Marilyn Cichocki), Timothy, Jeffrey (Linda); daughter-in-law, Connie Rose; grandchildren, Amanda (Tom), Ben (Tessa), Lauren (Graham), Matthew, Tyler, Noah, Patrick (Leah), Tom (Julie), Emily (Jonathan), Lucy, Chloe; and great-grandchildren, Connor, Max, Graham, Adelyn, Jack, and Paisley.

The family will receive guests Monday, June 13, 2022 from 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Prayers will begin Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, OH 43613. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Esther 's memory.
