Esther Martinez

Esther Martinez, age 67, of Fort Wayne, IN, formerly of Toledo, OH, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021 surrounded by loving family. She was born on September 18, 1954 to Luis Sr. and Alicia (Hernandez) Trejo in Toledo. Esther was an excellent cook and baker, something that will be missed by all. She enjoyed going out with family and friends. More than anything she loved spreading the word of God and loved the Lord. Esther loved nothing more than spending time with her family and grandchildren. Her smile was infectious, and her spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Mya Cruz; and nephew, Albert Trejo, Jr. Left to cherish Esther's memory are her loving mother, Alicia Trejo; children, Melissa (Carlton) Mason, Jose (Jennifer) Cruz Jr. and Angelica Gonzalez-Trejo; grandchildren, Kathiryne "Kati" (Ricky), Emmanuel "Manny", Mishela "Shela", Hannah "Henna", Felicia "Fecha", Julio "Juli", Jose III "Baby Joey", Ciera "Cece", Camilla "Milla", and Fabian "Fabby"; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Andres (Norma) Trejo, Esperanza Cortes, Susana Colmenero, Bertha Puga, Luis Trejo, Jr., Juan (Heather) Trejo, Albert (Krissandra) Trejo, Sr., and Pedro (Angela) Trejo; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday, October 25, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Temperance, MI. Officiating will be Minister Rafael Rivas and Rich Berak.
