Ernie "June" Howard, Jr.

Ernie "June" Howard, Jr., age 89, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on September 19, 2022. He was born the son of the late Ernie and Rena (Gentry) Howard, Sr. in Greenup County, Kentucky on February 22, 1933. Ernie married the love of his life, Barbara, on June 7, 1952, and together they enjoyed traveling, frequenting the casinos, and raising their family. Ernie retired from Textileather after 45 years in 1995. He loved spending his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on at various sporting, theater, and music events. He also enjoyed bowling, playing with his grand-dogs, and watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Boston Red Sox. Ernie loved every person that he met, and everyone loved Ernie; he will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents, Ernie was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ethel, Opal, Mary, Ledford, Clifford, Tressie, Evelyn, Phil, and Gifford. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 70 years, Barbara; children, Michelle (Tom) Grochowski, Melanie (Paul) Hanus, and Thomas (Patricia) Howard; grandchildren, Brad (Kristin) Grochowski, Destinie (Jeremy) Larson, Amanda (Keith) Scasny, Sarah Howard, Melissa (Michael) Toth, Kyle (Stacy) Howard, and Brett (Samantha) Howard; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Garrett, Brady, Bryson, Avalynn, Callie, Keegan, Raelyn, Cameron, Sparrow, Myla, and Charlie; sister, JoAnn Sandefur; and many nieces and nephews.

Guests will be received on Sunday, September 25, 2022 from Noon to 4:00 pm at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo (419-381-1900), where a Funeral Service will begin at 4:00 pm in the funeral home.
