Ernest Wright

Ernest "Ernie" Wright, age 84, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Anne Mercy Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 26, 1932 to Earl and Ida Grace Wright in Toledo. Ernie graduated from Whitmer High School in 1952. He was a skilled carpenter and worked for many years as a Superintendent in commercial construction in Toledo, Michigan, New Jersey and Florida retiring after over 40 years of service. Ernie loved wood working in his garage and building bird houses. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ernie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kris Wright; brother, Fred Wright; and sisters, Anna Stalker and Rachel Giradot. Ernie is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 65 years, Bonnie (Bratton) Wright; daughters, Vicki Finch and Dawn (Bob) Raabe; grandchildren, Heather (Andy) Burnard, Troy (Tara) Ford, Ryan (Melody) Ford, Janis Wright, Rachel Wright and Katie (PJ) Wenzel; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Evelyn, Keagan, Lexie and Ethan; sisters, Alice Gill and Dorothy Eno; Yorkie grand dogs, Roxie and Lily; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
