Ernest "Ernie" Crye, age 79, Of Toledo, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Ernie was born November 11, 1928 to John Franklin and Nancy Etta (Daniels) Crye in Knoxville, TN who preceded him. He married Ida Smith on July 5, 1952.

Ernie retired from DeVilbiss when the Toledo plant was closed. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Japan. He was a life time member both of VFW Post 2898 and Ft. Industry Masonic Lodge where he was a Past Master. He was a Past Patron of May Elliott OES.

In addition to his wife, Ida, Ernie is survived by his daughter Karen Crye, and his brother Charles (Shirley) Crye, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his brother John Franklin II, sisters Mildred (Robert) Bauer, Audrey (Earl aka Butch) Oberdorf, Cora (Eugene) Gust, Mary (Morris) (Joseph) Hatfield, Kathleen (James) Saddoris, and Shirley Crye.

The family will receive guests on Saturday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). VFW Post 2898 Services will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
