Ernest Bernath

Ernest Bernath, resident of Temperance, MI, passed away at home on April 21, 2023. Son of the late Frank and Julianna Bernath. Beloved husband of Dianne (nee Baker) Bernath. Cherished father of Ernest Bernath, Julie (the late Jon) King, Robin Mathkour, Page (Josh Schave) Bernath, and Krista Bernath Cannon. Adored grandfather of Alexis Gorka, Nicholas King, Jon King, Isabella Gorka, Jacob King, Madison King, Mackenzie Tovar, Wileed Mathkour, Kaia Cannon, Lucas Torres, Amelia Mathkour, Keagan Cannon, and Drea Hochleitner. Treasured great grandfather of Ivy Kosuth and Jovani Scott. Brother of Frank (the late Glorya) Bernath Jr. and Erika Russell. Lastly, Ernest leaves behind his favorite furry companions, Ruger and Lily.

Ernest was born in Hungary and moved to the United States in 1956, with his family. He graduated from Libbey High School, where he met the love of his life, Dianne. They married in 1967 and went on to have a beautiful, large family in Temperance, Michigan. Ernest worked as a truck driver, where he eventually owned and operated his own trucking company. He loved taking his family on vacations to places like Destin, Florida and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Ernest returned home to Hungary twice with his family to show them where he grew up and started his life. He was known for his affinity for luxury cars, and frequently visiting his friends at the car dealership. He will be dearly missed by his family members and friends.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2023 with a funeral service immediately to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel 4150 W. Laskey Road Toledo, OH 43623.
