Eric was born in Gadsden, Alabama where he resided for ten years. His parents, Henry and Izella Carlisle, moved the family to Toledo, Ohio where he lived the rest of his life except for the time spent away at school. He attended Pickett Elementary and later graduated from Woodward High School, Class of 1984.
Eric attended Culinary Art School and he loved to bake for his friends. He was so proud of the panda bear cake he made for his friend Lois Jones’ baby shower. And the 3-tier wedding cake he made for his friend, Angie, early on. He also attended Atlanta Art Institute to pursue his dreams. At the age of 7, he would sit and draw his sisters, so much talent.
Eric was gentle, peaceful, kind and a loving brother who was loved in return. He always saw the best in others and would not participate in conversations that assassinated one’s character, instead, he would change the subject or walk away. His kindness was often taken for weakness by some, but rest assured, he was meek, not weak. He obeyed the gospel of Christ and was added to the Church of Christ in the year 2000, baptized by his brother David Carlisle at Hurst Street Church of Christ, Gadsden, Alabama.
Eric was taught work ethics at home. His chosen profession was the health care industry. He worked at multiple healthcare facilities with the last one being Point Place Healthcare and Rehabilitation. He made a difference in his patients’ lives, formed new friendships and loved his coworkers. He was a hard worker and if you worked with him, you knew when he wasn’t there as was the case with his dear co worker Tiffany Painter, thank you for your care and concern.
Eric has a large family of nieces and nephews and cousins and one aunt from Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania. However, we will not list them all.
He leaves to mourn his departure and cherish his memories: his brother David (Delcine) Carlisle, David Winfree (his best friend), his sisters: Henrietta Carlisle, Barbara Carlisle, Diana Carlisle, Clarice (Warren) Morris, Frances (Theodore) Allen, Paris Carlisle, Phyllis Carlisle. His Toledo, Ohio Nieces/Nephews: Tameka Carlisle, Kenyatta Franklin, Ebony Toyer, Crystal Robinson, Denise Hyde, Ricky Robinson, Deontre Allen, Andrew Carlisle, Charles Carlisle.
