Emma L. Matty, age 88, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Maumee, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the Kingston of Sylvania Residence and Care Center. She was born July 30, 1923 in Cumberland, Maryland to Floyd and Eulah (Beeler) Walker. Emma was a 1942 graduate of Woodward High School. She was employed as a clerk for the Norfolk-Southern Railroad for 30 years, retiring July 30, 1983. Emma and her husband, Lee made candies and sold them at Heritage Festivals in Ohio and Michigan. She was also a member of Trilby United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are Emma's children, Lynn (Barbara) Matty, Thom (Janette) Matty, Christa (Andrew) Goldblatt, and David (Elizabeth) Matty; four grandchildren; and brother, Charles R. Walker. In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard "Lee" Matty; sister, Louise Mittendorf and brothers, Floyd and Kenneth Walker.
The family will receive guests Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral services will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Trilby United Methodist Church, 5918 Secor Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623.
