Elvie Lee Williams, Jr., also known as "Dunnie," at the age of 64, of Toledo, OH transitioned from his earthly home on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. He was born on March 25, 1956 to the late Elvie Sr. and Rosie Lee Cummings-Hoskins in Chicago, IL.
In addition to his parents, Elvie Sr. and Rosie Lee Cummings-Hoskins, he was preceded in death by his, siblings, Glenda Jean Ross, Darnell Williams Sr., Larnell Williams Sr., Doris Hoskins, and Frederick C. Hoskins; and grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert and Catherine Amos.
Elvie "Dunnie" is survived his loving wife of 42 years, Joyce M. Williams; children, Dainta C. Williams, Elvie A. Williams, III and Donna (Willie) Johnson; grandchildren, Daliyah, D'Amante, Dalazia, Daichun and Daichyn Stewart; and Kaiden and Ashlee Johnson; and Armani Williams; great-grandchildren, Dre'Mon, Dralyn and My'Lazia Stewart; sister, Robbie (O'Neal) Sims, Bobbie (Robert) Taylor, and Dora Young all of Clarksdale, MS; brothers, Lee Arthur and Arzell Hoskins of Clarksdale, MS; aunt, Alberta Lewis of Chicago, IL; uncle, Willie Williams of Indianapolis, IN; special brother-in-law, Ronnie Trotter; and special sister in Christ, Odenia O'Rourke of Toledo; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous in-laws, church members and friends.
He devoted his life to Christ at an early age and was a member at Mt. Ollie Baptist Church, Clarksdale, Mississippi. In his adult years he moved to Toledo and joined the First Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Robert A. Culp.
Elvie "Dunnie" received his education from Coahoma County Schools, Mississippi and graduated in the class of 1975. He continued his education at Coahoma Jr. College where he studied electronics and construction, receiving his Associate's Degree in construction. He then moved to Toledo where he was employed at Johnson Controls (Yangfeng Automotive) and also their team leader, until their closing, then DMS car factory as an assembly line worker-team leader.
Elvie "Dunnie" was a big sports fan and an excellent athlete. He played many sports including, football, basketball, baseball and track. Elvie "Dunnie" enjoyed watching football, especially his beloved team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. When he wasn't watching sports Elvie "Dunnie" could be found watching action packed movies.
He was a very faithful member of First Church of God where he enjoyed being a part of the Men's M.O.V.E. Group. Elvie "Dunnie" enjoyed being a part of the Transportation Ministry. He was also a member of the UAW Region 2-B.
