Ella Angle

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Ella Angle at the age of 92 on January 4, 2019. Born in West Virginia to the late Walter and Elviria Spitzer, Ella met the love of her life – George Angle – at a basketball game back in 1948 and thus began a global family adventure. After 22 years with the U.S. Army, George's assignments for the Stars and Stripes took him to Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg, Taiwan and Okinawa. As a young mother, Ella was quite resourceful, once traveling with her three young children by car from West Virginia to Baltimore to catch a train to New York, and then a plane to San Francisco, and finally boarding a ship to Japan with all three in tow. These adventures are fondly remembered by her children.

Ella was an especially kind and gentle person with a very special sense of humor. Notable quote: "always have a Plan B." She loved working crossword puzzles, playing golf and enjoyed watching LPGA tournaments in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; brother, Walter (Johnny) Spitzer; brother-in-law, Donald Whitman and son-in-law, James Millon. Surviving are her sister, Judy Whitman of Amherst, OH; sons, Charles (Gail) Angle of Fair Play, SC and Christopher (Yolanda) Angle of Kennesaw, GA; daughter, Candace Millon of Maumee, OH and her special daughter-in-love, Cindy (Nick) Pflegaar of Maumee. Ella wanted to especially thank her caregiver and friend, Nejola for helping her enjoy years of independent living as well as the caring staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
