Elizabeth Mae Smith

Elizabeth M. Smith, age 97, of Toledo, passed away Friday, February 6th, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 16, 1911 to Neil and Margaret Unser in Green Springs, Ohio. Elizabeth was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church of Toledo, as well as a member of the Ladies Aid Group through the church. Elizabeth was also active with Zion Lutheran School while her children attended. She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Smith and daughter, Judith Haupricht. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Sandra L. Herman, Harold C. Smith, Marilyn S. Hartman, Kathleen E. Smith, Donald I. (Deborah) Smith, Roger A. (Antoinette) Smith and Gary R. Smith; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral Services will be Private.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 7th, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, 3360 Nebraska Ave. beginning at 10:30 a.m. Officiating Pastor Patrick Bell.

Those wishing to make monetary donations are asked to consider Northwest Ohio Alzheimer's Association, Zion Lutheran School or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

The family would like to thank Director, Salli Bollin and the great staff of Northwest Ohio Alzheimer's Center, Social Worker, Ann Ray and The Area Office on Aging physician, Dr. Cletus Iwuagwu and his staff, caretakers, Lori Stetler and Jackie Knack, nurse, Barbara Nye and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, special friends, Betsy and Clarence McNeal and all the friends at Westmoor Retirement Apartments. Thank you all so much for helping Elizabeth to reach her New Home where she will be greeted with the words "Well done, thou good and faithful servant!"
